What is Holistic Nutrition?

Holistic nutrition is an approach to health, healing and wellness which supports your physical, emotional and spiritual health through the most potent form of medicine, food. Holistic nutrition is about determining the root causes of your symptoms and using a highly customized approach based on functional foods and other natural remedies to give the body what it requires to run optimally on the cellular level. It is a partnership between you and your practitioner  to return and to keep the body in a state of optimal health.

How does a Holistic Nutritionist differ from a nutritionist or dietician?

Holistic nutritionists view you as a unique individual that has your own complex set of needs. Holistic nutrition does not follow a one sized fits all guide, for example the food pyramid, but rather favors a highly customized approach to wellness based on your very unique needs at a given time in your life. Additionally, holistic nutritionists are like personal health gurus who focus of educating you so that you can have a greater active role in your health. On the other hand, a conventional nutritionist or dietician normally practices nutrition in a hospital or school setting applying a one size fits all ideology to food. They  do not look at mental and spiritual health as crucial parts of wellness or take into account your very different needs like holistic nutritionist does.
